My students love these cards because they can check their own answers. 100 cards is more than you will ever practically need, but elementary students get a thrill from doing Big Work. Having a lot of work available, lets students choose a large quantity of work to satisfy their need.

This seven page PDF file gives the complete instructions for making your own Montessori checkerboard to use in your homeschool environment or in your Montessori School! I believe that a fabric checkerboard is actually preferable to the wooden one (I’ve used both), the beads roll around a lot on the wood board which makes it somewhat frustrating to use, no such issue with the fabric checkerboard!
The instructions are complete but they do assume some level of sewing experience. This pattern is suitable for adventurous beginners and up!
